Overview: Party Poker
is the 2nd largest online poker room on the internet.
They currently have over 70 thousand registered
players. So you’ll always find the game you want
to play with very little waiting time. Having so
many players also means more new players to take
advantage of at the tables.
Games: Party Poker hosts tables for Hold’em,
Omaha, Omaha H/L, Seven Card Stud and Seven Card
Stud H/L. There are limit, pot limit and no limit
variations available for Hold’em and Omaha, only
limit for Stud. The no limit and pot limit games
are identified by their maximum buy-in, which
range from $25 to $1,000. The limit games range
from $.50/$1.00 to $30/$60 in Hold’em, and don’t
get quite that high for the others. Tournaments
abound, including single table tournaments, and
range in stakes from $5+$1 to $200+$15. Big money
tournaments can be found daily and the single
table tournaments fill up very quickly. Party
Poker is also well known for their special
tournaments, such as the Party Poker Millions
where players have the opportunity to win more
than a million dollars for an entry fee as low as
$9+$1, and get a free cruise in the process! Also
extremely popular is their Step tournaments, where
players can buy into an inexpensive single table
tournament and progressively win their way into
sub sequent single table events. Keep winning your
way through the Steps and you’ll be looking at a
huge final win at the end!
Software: Party Poker has fast and stable
software that allows a player to have as many as
four tables up and running at once. You can keep
notes about other players online, and you can even
run a buddy list to keep track of friends, foes or
fish. There is a live 24 hour support number you
can call if you have problems, but problems are
rare. The hardest part of using the software is
just sorting through the hundreds of games and
tournaments that are going on all the time.
Players: With so many players there are
obviously a lot of unskilled ones, but there are
definitely sharks lurking in the mix. The lower
limits are filled with weak players who don’t seem
to realize the software comes with a fully
functional fold button. This makes for good
fishing, but also occasionally increases the
number of bad beats you’re likely to experience.
As you move up in stakes the player skill level
gradually increases and your chances of seeing a
shark increase as well, but you aren’t likely to
ever sit down at a table full of pros. In general,
the players are considered to be of below average
skill when compared to an average of all poker
sites.
Bonuses: Party Poker offers regular reload
bonuses, usually one per month or more. The terms
vary, but are typically a 20% bonus on your
deposit with a maximum bonus of $100, sometimes
$200. To clear bonus money you need to play a
certain number of raked hands per dollar.
Typically it is seven hands per dollar, but
occasionally you will see five or ten hands per
dollar. A raked hand is any hand that you were
dealt cards and a rake was taken from the pot. You
do not need to contribute money to a pot for it to
qualify.
Banking Options: Party Poker supports many
deposit options, including VISA, MasterCard,
NETeller, FirePay, Western Union, Citadel (US
only), eChecks (by iGM-Pay), bank draft, cashier's
check, money order, check. Withdrawals are done
through NETeller, wire transfer, check and eChecks
(by iGM-Pay).
